I’m Sarah King, Ph.D. KPA CTP, and my mission is to apply my knowledge of animal behavior to positively affect relationships between animals and their people.

My years of practical experience and scientific research have given me a deep understanding of animal behavior which I can apply to new research or guiding you and your animal through behavior and training struggles.

In addition to my academic background I have an insatiable desire to keep learning about training and behavior! This has led me to become certified through Absolute Dogs (Pro Dog Trainer + Geek) and become a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner. I am also a licensed Un-Chase! trainer.

I believe in using force-free, evidence-based methods to improve relationships between people and their animals. Using reward-based methods not only results in kind and clear communication, but it makes training fun rather than a chore!

Why I’m so passionate about animal behavior

I grew up in England obsessed with animals, and have had a lifelong fascination with how animals think and why they behave as they do. This led me to a zoology degree and a doctorate in animal behavior (I studied Przewalski’s horses in the wild in Mongolia), and a career researching the behavior and ecology of wild animals.

No matter where I have lived, throughout my life I have surrounded myself with dogs, cats, and horses. After deepening my knowledge of various positive reinforcement methods with my own dogs (and horse), I realized that I can share this joyful training by combining my academic expertise with my passion for helping others find the fun in their relationship with their animals.
